We are doing something a little different as we finally make our comeback this week. I am still having computer problems which makes posting a lot harder, while Jay has some other projects eating up his time and making Arc pages slow a little while. But that’s ok, as I have a few little side stories to tell, and that is what we’re going to do. One of my many inspirations for Arc is Terry Moore’s Strangers in Paradise, and I always wanted to randomly throw in some text pages of story, spot-illustrated, like he often did. Tyler is going to be one of the two characters we meet that way, with the second coming up in a few weeks as well.
It’s time for tryouts. Of course, that means we get to see Bev and Petra again. That brings June to a solid end for us. See you next month!
Sometimes I really hate being the letterer on my own story. I get this absolutely beautiful art from Jay, and it saddens me every time I have to cover it up with captions and words. I often find myself cutting dialogue on the fly, just to give you more of his art. Which probably isn’t a bad idea; this page is wordy enough even after the cuts!
After a little hiccup in the schedule last week, we are back as we finish out our little prologue of loving!
Stageshow kicks in to high gear with the next page, folks, so stay tuned!
I want to make sure that even though this is a super-powered comic, that I never drop the richness of fully realized characters for slam-bang action sequences. So I think a scene like this, that really focuses on Shania’s insecurities, works so well.
“Stageshow” finally begins right here and I cannot say enough how proud I am to be at this point. Jay and I have poured a lot of sweat in to this book and I hope it shows with every page.
I would like to take some kind of credit for this one. Alas, all I did was throw that “Evolution Comics” logo in the corner and shrink it down to page side.
Everything else here is pure Jay. Awesome, isn’t he?
Here it is, folks. We close out April with the final page of Jay’s sketchbook pages and the final page of Shania’s Journal. I have really enjoyed this text and picture format (not to mention my chance to use Blambot’s awesome Catholic School Girls font. But next week we will return to our regular story pages as Jay and I bring you the beginning of Arc issue number 2!
See you then!
